Don’t be an ass and get yourself to The Donkey, Charleshill

An interesting little find. Very unassuming from the outside, you probably wouldn’t notice it if driving past, but boy am I glad we found The Donkey!

Again, looking at the menu straight off, you wouldn’t think anything particularly noticeable jumps out, but when we ordered, expecting a bog standard meal, we were incredibly surprised at the sheer quality!

Going with a Goat’s cheese salad and a cheeseburger, both were incredible! The burgers were homemade with great quality beef, and the chunky chips were just the right combination of crispy layer over soft and fluffy inside. Not at all overly greasy or over-crisp.

My choice of the Goat’s cheese salad…well…AH-MAZ-ING!!! As you’ll see from the photo, HUGE portion size, tonnes of asparagus included, a big chunk of creamy, rich goat’s cheese, fresh mixed vegetables, and even served with a side of hot, garlic-y new potatoes.

We also went to meet the eponymous donkeys, with only one of the two braving the cold weather that day. I can’t evangelise enough, The Donkey’s the very definition of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ and definitely worth a try if you’re nearby.

Grilled Goat’s Cheese, Seared Asparagus with Roasted Mediterranean Vegetables
  • 6oz Beef Burger
