A treat of texture & flavour at Café Benedict, Teddington

Looking for a quality bite to eat over a catch-up with a friend? Fancy a breakfast or brunch before heading for a walk in Bushy Park or along the Thames? Get yourself to Café Benedict!

Right in the centre of Teddington High Street, 5 minutes away from Teddington Station, Café Benedict’s a double fronted storefront offering an interesting menu with twists on classics.

We visited in January 2024 for an evening meal and the setting is atmospheric and dark, but with individual table lamps lighting your way it avoids the cliché of being unable to read the menu if your eyesight’s not what it used to be!

Service and the setting (our ‘Treatment’ & ‘Trimmings’) were fairly standard, friendly & polite but nothing out of the ordinary. The food (our ‘Taste’) however, was where they really shine.

The Seared Beef Carpaccio was incredible. Rich, meaty, deep flavours with delicate cuts of beef. The Buttered Buffalo Chicken Wings, we were expecting something pretty standard, but again, offered an interesting fruity spicy taste, with enough crisp to be satisfying without having to fight to get to the meat!

The mains were equally impressive. The Crab Ravioli was presented beautifully, and were stuffed to the brim with crab meat – no skimping on the ingredients here! The Warm Autumnal Salad was delicious! I’m a slut for anything with a Brussel sprout in it, but the creamy burrata, rich & juicy beetroot & butternut squash, and crispy spiced pecans made this dish a runaway first!

Run, don’t walk, to get a reservation for dinner. And we’re excited to revisit to sample their Brunch offerings soon.
