In as non bitchy way as possible: Comfortable & safe – The Wheatsheaf, Esher, Surrey

You could probably make a good bet on me being found in the bar of The Wheatsheaf munching away on some nachos, at least once a month.

Rather than this being based on a single visit, it’s on multiple, regular visits, having tried many things on the menu, multiple times, and not feeling bad for it at all.

Now before anyone starts to think I’m boring and only go to one pub over and over again…let me put the rumours to rest…I am.

Good value, consistently high quality food, reliably good menu. If you need a safe bet for food you’ll comfortably enjoy…The Wheatsheaf’s your girl.

The service can be a little hit-and-miss. Have had great service from clearly experienced servers, and also been left stood waiting at the bar watching three members of staff slowly count less than 10 bottles of wine for stocktake and not one of them thinking to serve the three-deep bar behind them…not that I’m still bitter.

The bar snacks are a friend to anyone needing a light snack (order several and treat it as tapas), or in the restaurant half of the building – a good, solid selection to choose from.

Peanut Satay Chicken (pictured) is a tasty, ‘healthier’ option. Crunchy, strong flavours, juicy chicken, reasonable portion size.

Genuinely something for everyone.
